Benicar Manufacturer Agrees to $300 Million Settlement

On behalf of Joel Rhine of Rhine Law Firm, P.C. posted August 11, 2017

The gastrointestinal tract, also known as the digestive tract, is vital to human health. It’s where we digest the food we turn into energy and absorb the nutrients that are essential for our bodies. This is why the sprue-like enteropathy symptoms brought on by the widely prescribed blood pressure medication, Benicar, have disrupted and negatively altered so many lives.

Sprue-like enteropathy symptoms include:

  • Chronic diarrhea
  • Extreme weight loss
  • Malnutrition
  • Anemia
  • Abdominal pain
  • Dehydration
  • Nausea
  • Flu-like symptoms
  • Lightheadedness
  • Dizziness
  • Fatigue
  • Back pain
  • Muscle and joint pain
  • Itching
  • Skin rash
  • Headache
  • Weakness
  • Bronchitis

These symptoms are not only uncomfortable, annoying, and detrimental to one’s quality of life, but they can have serious, long term, even fatal health effects. In 2015 Wilmington, North Carolina’s Rhine Law Firm, P.C. began representing Benicar users who had suffered severe side effects, filing lawsuits against the drug’s manufacturer, Daiichi Sankyo and Forest Laboratories, on their behalf. In fact, a New Jersey federal judge appointed firm founder, Joel. R. Rhine, to a Plaintiff Steering Committee for the purpose of representing all plaintiffs suing Daiichi Sanyo. The lawsuits allege that the Japanese pharmaceutical giant failed to adequately warn those prescribed Benicar of the potential side effects associated with the drug.

If you or someone you love suffered adverse side effects after being treated with Benicar, you may be eligible for compensation for medical bills, lost wages, loss of quality of life, pain and suffering, and more, from the $300 million settlement Benicar’s manufacturer has agreed to pay. But you need to act fast. The deadline for joining the Multi-District Litigation against Daiichi Sankyo and Forest Laboratories is August 23rd, 2017. To get your claim underway, call the Rhine Law Firm, P.C. for a free case evaluation, at (910) 772-9960.
