Joel Rhine Appointed to the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee (PSC) for the Benicar Multi-District Litigation
Benicar was approved in 2002 for the use by patients with high blood pressure. In the first ten years it was on the market, it was estimated that almost 2 million patients in the United States had been prescribed Benicar. However, in 2012, a link was found between the use of Benicar and the development of sprue-like enteropathy and other serious gastrointestinal conditions.
In early 2015, our firm began filing lawsuits on behalf of injured parties in various Courts, including the US District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina. Because the Federal Courts became inundated with cases, a Multi-District Litigation (MDL) was created and the cases were consolidated and transferred to United States District Court in New Jersey.
Shortly thereafter, the presiding Judge appointed a Plaintiff Steering Committee (PSC), whose primary purpose is to effectively and efficiently represent the common interests of all of the Plaintiffs involved in the MDL. We were proud that Joel R. Rhine was appointed a member of the Benicar MDL PSC.
As a member of the Benicar PSC, our firm is fully engaged and committed to pursuing justice for injured users of these drugs. We look forward to fighting for our clients throughout the Benicar litigation.
