Lawsuits Involving Herbicide-Related Injuries

Roundup is the name given to an herbicide made by the Monsanto Corporation. It sometimes also goes by the name glyphosate, because that is the main component in Roundup. It is this dangerous chemical that has now linked to cancer in several studies done between 2003 and 2015. In spite of the alleged cancer risk, Monsanto is still selling the product without making any changes to it. This has led to several lawsuits being filed against the company.

If you or a loved one has been injured by using Roundup, or any other products containing glyphosate manufactured and distributed by Monsanto, you need to speak to a Roundup injury lawyer. Manufacturers can be held liable if their products cause sickness or injury.

What Makes Roundup so Dangerous?

The safety of Roundup has been questioned since the 1980s, when the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued warnings that glyphosate, could potentially cause cancer. While the EPA stated later, in 1991, that there was not enough evidence to prove glyphosate as a carcinogen, there have still been several studies indicating that the chemical is not safe for human use.

An American study, done in September 2003, showed that farmers exposed to glyphosate had increased rates of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. This is concerning, considering that Roundup is used on 80% of farmland and crops in the United States.

A 2008 study, by a Swedish medical journal, found that exposure to glyphosate doubled a person’s risk of contracting non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. And in 2015, the World Health Organization found that glyphosate is likely a carcinogen for humans.

In some countries, such as Canada, the use of Roundup has been banned because it is considered to be so dangerous. Unfortunately, no such ban has been instated in the United States.
